Sim City Downloads Going Slow

SimCity 2013

The popular simulation city building game went on sale today online and in stores for gamers to download from Origin. Using EA’s Origin service, gamers were able to pre-order the title and download it from there.

However, reports suggest that the time taking to download the strategy game is very slow indeed. Fans have been trying to get SimCity onto their hard drive this morning and all afternoon with downloading times taking it’s toll.

Publishers Electronic Arts Admits There’s Problems

EA have declared that there are problems at the moment, and they’re taking the right course of action to put this problem right as soon as possible. The download is currently taking a good few hours for gamers to get access to the simulation game.

In SimCity (2013), players take on the role of a mayor and are tasked with designing, building, and managing their own virtual cities. The game offers a dynamic and immersive experience, allowing players to control various aspects of city development, including zoning, infrastructure, public services, and economic policies.

One of the notable features of SimCity (2013) is the implementation of a new simulation engine called GlassBox, which aims to provide a more realistic and detailed representation of the city and its inhabitants. The engine simulates factors such as traffic flow, population behaviour, and environmental effects, making the city feel alive and responsive to the player’s actions.

The game also emphasises interconnectivity between cities, as players can establish relationships and trade resources with neighbouring cities. This interconnectedness adds a layer of depth and strategic planning to the gameplay, as decisions made in one city can have ripple effects on others.

SimCity (2013) introduces an online multiplayer component, allowing players to collaborate and compete with others in a shared region. They can work together to solve regional challenges or engage in friendly competition to see who can create the most prosperous city.

For the first time ever, gamers were given the option to pre download the game onto their hard drives a few days before the release of the game today. EA have said that this idea has not gone as fluently as they imagined it would have.

With the game facing some controversy and technical issues during its launch, primarily due to the game’s always-online requirement and server stability problems, gamers will hope for a fix soon. There was a lot of hype pre-launch from EA claiming it will be the best Sim City game yet, so fingers crossed the issues will be resolved.

UK customers will hope that this inconvenience doesn’t apply to them when the game is released in their region on March 8th.
