Nintendo have given release dates to both The Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 at the Nintendo Direct Live webcast today. The two Wii U titles will be launched in a few months time in Europe. With Pikmin 3 launching on July 26th and August 23rd for The Wonderful 101.
The North American release dates are August 4th for Pikmin 3, and September 15th for The Wonderful 101. Both of the titles are Wii U exclusives and will not be available on any other platform.
Pikmin 3 Information
Pikmin 3 is a strategic adventure video game developed and published by Nintendo. It offers a unique gameplay experience centered around exploration, resource management, and puzzle-solving. The game follows the journey of three explorers, Alph, Brittany, and Captain Charlie, who crash-land on an unknown planet. Their goal is to collect fruit and repair their ship while navigating the planet’s environments and encountering various creatures.
Players control and command different types of Pikmin, small plant-like creatures with unique abilities. Red Pikmin are resistant to fire, Blue Pikmin can swim, Yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity, Rock Pikmin can break through hard barriers, and Winged Pikmin can fly over obstacles. Interestingly the title features a non-linear structure, allowing players to explore the planet’s different regions at their own pace. Along the way, they must solve environmental puzzles, defeat enemies, and use the different Pikmin types strategically to overcome obstacles.
There’s also an offering of competitive multiplayer modes, where players compete to collect the most fruit or defeat enemies within a time limit. The adventure title showcases colourful and detailed visuals, bringing the whimsical world to life. The game takes advantage of the Wii U’s hardware capabilities, offering high-definition graphics and immersive environments.
Also announced at Nintendo Direct, was that the GamePad will allow players to view a map. Each of the titles can be played by using the Wii remote or the GamePad respectively. Nintendo have come out and said that Pikmin 3 will be more like the original game than the previous installment.
