Sony PS4 Will Get 2013 Release in India

Sony have confirmed in the last few hours that their upcoming PlayStation 4 console will be released this year in India. Atindriya Bose who’s the PlayStation India country manager revealed the news when he gave a quick exclusive interview to IVG.

He said that due to logistical issues, the European release date might be pulled back a month or two.

He went on to say: “It will be matched with the European launch; give or take a bit to account for Indian logistics. The consoles have to be shipped in advance and currently all consoles also require certification for the India market. In terms of targeting, we’re looking to synchronise with the European launch.”

“That’s this year.” he added.

Bose was asked whether the PS4 would carry the exact same issues that the PS3 had when arriving in India. He replied by saying: “It’s unfair to compare the PS4 with PS3 because we have come a long way,” he said. “With PS3, first the world launches took place and then we started looking at the other markets we wanted to go into. For PS4, it will have a timeline that is more aligned with what we had on PS Vita. Being a portable, the logistics had made it easier for us to launch day-and-date [with Europe]. Once we know the European date for PS4, we will work towards that, but there will be some gap, depending on the logistics.”

Bode wasn’t finished there either, he stated that unless there’s a certification level issue, then he expects the PS4 to launch at the very latest a month after originally planned.

This news only confirms that the PlayStation 4 is only around the corner for Europe and North America. Other Asian countries will look to get the next-gen machine soon as well. What do you make of the news regarding the PS4 being launched this year in India? Let us know your thoughts below.
