The Bouncer, a fan-favourite tool that has appeared across multiple Ratchet & Clank games over the years, was previously only obtainable in the 2016 title by pre-ordering the game.
But after nearly eight years, Insomniac has finally made the explosive, bouncing grenade-like weapon accessible to all players as part of a free DLC drop.
The Journey to Bring the Bouncer DLC to All Players
“Been trying to make this happen for like half a decade,” shared Insomniac’s Community Director James Stevenson in a separate post. “I couldn’t get it done. Tim couldn’t get it there. But @TheAgentOfDoom (Aaron Jason Espinoza) finally pulled it off with our partners at PlayStation.”
According to Espinoza, the Bouncer DLC was actually supposed to release a few years ago, but had been delayed due to “legal hurdles” that the team had to navigate behind the scenes.
The Bouncer’s inclusion in the 2016 Ratchet & Clank game was particularly noteworthy, as it marked the weapon’s return to the franchise after appearing in classics like Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal on the PlayStation 2 and the recent entry Rift Apart for PC and the PS5.
