Gap in the Wall Video Guide
The video shows the Village Square Gap in the Wall location and how to use Ashley to unlock the building in Chapter 5.
When Can You Enter the Gap in the Wall?
The earliest opportunity is Chapter 5, after Leon rescues Ashley from the Church.
Return through the Village Square while heading towards the Farm. The inaccessible building is in the northwestern corner of the square.
Walk around the side of the building until you reach the yellow-marked opening.
Interact with the opening while Ashley is nearby. Leon lifts her up and she crawls through the gap.
Ashley unlocks the barred entrance from inside, allowing Leon to enter normally.
There is no alternative route for Leon. A ladder, crate or other item cannot be used to reach the opening without Ashley.
Is the Gap in the Wall Treasure Missable?
Yes. Collect the Elegant Bangle before entering the Villa fight near the end of Chapter 5.
Crossing the bridge to the Villa starts the large defensive encounter with Luis and Ashley. Leon cannot return to the earlier Village areas after completing this section.
For that reason, the safest time to collect the treasure is immediately after returning to the Village Square with Ashley.
What Is Inside the Gap in the Wall?
The chest inside the building contains an Elegant Bangle.
The Elegant Bangle has a base sale value of 5,000 Pesetas and contains two gemstone slots.
Do not sell it immediately if you have suitable gemstones. Two matching gems activate a colour bonus, increasing the combined sale value.
Using two Yellow Diamonds raises the Elegant Bangle to 22,800 Pesetas, making this significantly more valuable than selling the empty treasure.
Is This the Same Gap in the Wall Near the Wine Cellar?
No. Resident Evil 4 Remake contains another Ashley-assisted opening in the Castle that players sometimes refer to as the Gap in the Wall.
The Village Square opening covered in this guide becomes accessible in Chapter 5 and contains the Elegant Bangle.
The later Castle opening near the Wine Cellar requires Ashley again and leads to the Depraved Idol.
If your map marker is near the Wine Cellar rather than the Village Square, you are looking for the Castle treasure instead.
