  • Wallace Wells introduced as a new playable character.
  • DLC priced at approximately £3/$1.99 and released on PlayStation 3.

The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game downloadable content (DLC), officially titled the “Wallace Wells Add-On Pack,” was released on March 12, 2013 for the PlayStation 3. This marked a significant milestone for the beloved 2D side-scrolling beat ‘em up, as it introduced a long-requested feature: online multiplayer.

Originally released in 2010, the game was widely praised for its retro pixel art, chiptune soundtrack by Anamanaguchi, and gameplay reminiscent of classic brawlers like Streets of Rage and River City Ransom. However, one of its most criticised omissions was the lack of an online co-op mode—players could only enjoy multiplayer locally.

That all changed with the Wallace Wells DLC. For a small price of £3 or $1.99 USD), players could now team up with friends over the internet to battle their way through the League of Evil Exes.

DLC Features:

  • Online Multiplayer: Adds the ability to play co-op over the PlayStation Network (and later Xbox Live, on Xbox 360). This was built into the game using the original framework but updated with netcode support.
  • New Playable Character – Wallace Wells: Scott’s sarcastic and deadpan roommate replaces Knives Chau (from the earlier DLC) as a unique character with his own move set.
  • Improved Stability and Bug Fixes: Although not always mentioned in detail, patches released alongside the DLC addressed minor performance issues and gameplay bugs.
  • Trophy Support: Additional Trophies were added tied to Wallace Wells and online play, expanding the game’s completion path.

This DLC breathed new life into Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, especially for those who had been waiting years to play cooperatively online. The timing of the release coincided with a wave of renewed interest in the franchise, including reprints of the graphic novels and ongoing cult appreciation of the 2010 movie.
