Sony have today officially announced via their PlayStation blog that a multiplayer open beta for Killzone: Mercenary on the PS Vita will commence at some point in late August. They also revealed that the sing-ups for the shooters closed beta are now completely closed.

The beta actually begins today for gamers who wish to take part. The latest installment uses the exact same engine that was used in Killzone 3. The epic single-player campaign in Killzone: Mercenary will have nine unique missions that will be well over an hour long.
The highly anticipated game will have three game-types and six maps that will be implemented into an eight-player multiplayer mode. The first-person shooter launches on September 4th in Europe, and the 10th in North America.
