2K Games has released a new live-action trailer for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, concluding the Burn Room storyline shortly before the tactical shooter launches later this month.

The Aftermath trailer runs for just under four minutes and returns to Pima, New Mexico following the alien attack depicted across 2K’s earlier live-action videos.

Special Agent William Carter and his team are shown dealing with the aftermath of the incident while attempting to erase evidence of what happened. The episode also resolves parts of the wider Burn Room campaign, including the fate of Bureau agent Ennis Cole.

The live-action series began with The Burn Room and expanded through videos including Orbit & The Asteroids, The Choice, The Decision, The Chase and The Interrogation before reaching Aftermath. The campaign centres on the Bureau’s attempts to contain and conceal an extraterrestrial threat in 1962 America.

Aftermath also provides another look at the consequences of the invasion, including civilians affected by the alien threat and the Bureau’s increasingly desperate efforts to keep the incident secret.

The description given by 2K for this specific trailer reads:

“In the aftermath of an epic battle in Pima, New Mexico, the Bureau’s Special Agent Carter and his men face the ultimate price for erasing the truth.”

In the game itself, players control William Carter as he leads a squad against an otherworldly enemy while directing teammates through tactical combat. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified combines third-person shooting with squad commands.

The game is set in 1962 during the Cold War and presents the Bureau as a covert American organisation forced to confront a threat far beyond the Soviet espionage scenario it was originally designed to handle.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified launches on August 20 in North America and August 23 internationally for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Later update: The finished game retained the same central premise established by the live-action campaign, with William Carter and the Bureau fighting the Outsiders while covering up the invasion from the wider public.

2K also expanded the game after launch with narrative DLC. The first post-launch content had already been announced before release, with the publisher confirming that additional stories would explore the declassified origins of the XCOM organisation.
