Get ready to step back in time with your favourite Disney pals! The enchanting world of Disney Dreamlight Valley is set to get a delightful retro makeover in the game’s upcoming expansion update.
Disney has just dropped an exciting teaser trailer that reveals the next instalment of “A Rift in Time” will feature none other than Steamboat Willie, Mickey Mouse’s very first character design from way back in 1928.
In the newly released sneak peek, we see strange rifts popping up all over Dreamlight Valley, much to the surprise of its cartoon inhabitants.
Suddenly, Mickey himself starts to transform, losing his modern-day colour and taking on the classic black-and-white look of Steamboat Willie.
It seems the rifts are bringing a whole new (or should we say old?) style to the game.
For those who haven’t yet explored the magic of Disney Dreamlight Valley, it’s a charming life simulation game that lets players befriend and interact with a host of beloved Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy.
Since its launch in 2023, the title has continued to expand with fresh updates and content, keeping fans happily entertained.
The introduction of Steamboat Willie marks an unexpected and nostalgic twist for the game. Many players are now wondering if other old-school Disney friends might also make an appearance.
Will we see black-and-white versions of Minnie, Donald, and Goofy too? Could there be retro-themed furniture and outfits to collect? The possibilities are both exciting and intriguing.
Act 3 is the latest instalment in the A Rift in Time expansion pass, which first launched in December last year.
The paid DLC has been releasing in phases, with Act 1 and Act 2 already available and warmly received by fans.
These expansions have introduced new areas to discover, as well as welcoming characters who weren’t part of the original game, such as:
- Gaston from Beauty and the Beast
- EVE from WALL-E
- Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, an early Disney creation
If you’ve purchased the expansion pass, you can look forward to continuing your adventures and unravelling the mystery of the rifts in Act 3.
Players will need to work to foil the schemes of that rascally villain Jafar, who seems to be behind these strange events.
But when exactly can we jump into this monochromatic marvel?
While no official release date has been announced just yet, we do know Act 3 is slated to arrive sometime this month in August 2024.
Gameloft, the game’s developer, has promised a fuller reveal very soon. There will be a a special developer update video today that will share more juicy details on both the free summer update and the expanded Act 3 content.
They also recently shared the entire 2024 roadmap ahead for the title that reveals Timon and Pumbaa’s arrival in October and new realms on the way too.
The A Rift in Time expansion typically costs £29.99 or its equivalent in your currency, though savvy shoppers may be able to snag it at a discount from time to time.
If you haven’t yet taken the plunge, now might be the perfect time to see what all the fuss is about and discover the delights of Disney Dreamlight Valley for yourself.
