As the holiday gaming season approaches, all eyes are on Activision’s latest instalment in the Call of Duty franchise: Black Ops 6.

Set to be the second title released since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, this highly anticipated entry is generating huge buzz in the lead-up to release.

The Beta, a crucial phase in the game’s development, offers players an early taste of the action while allowing developers to fine-tune the experience.

Here’s everything you need to know about when the Beta ends and how to join the action.

The Black Ops 6 Beta is split into two distinct weekends. The first, running from August 30th to September 4th, is an early access period. This phase is reserved for those who’ve pre-ordered the game or have an active Game Pass subscription. The second weekend, from the 6th to the 9th of September, opens the gates to all players, regardless of pre-order status.

For those keen to jump in early, pre-ordering is your best bet. Digital pre-orders automatically grant Beta access, eliminating the need for a separate code.

Alternatively, Game Pass subscribers can pre-install the game, though be warned – the current download size is a whopping 165GB.

If you’re looking to save space, there’s a workaround. Search for the Call of Duty app in the Xbox store, download the base app and the Black Ops 6 Beta pack separately. It’s a bit more fiddly, but it’ll save you precious hard drive space.

The Beta promises to showcase a selection of maps and modes, with more content being introduced as the test period progresses.

It’s an opportunity for players to get to grips with the new mechanics and for developers to iron out any kinks before the full launch.

Speaking of launch, mark your calendars. Once the Beta concludes on 9 September, there’s just a five-week wait until the full game release.

The complete package will feature the campaign, multiplayer, and the fan-favourite zombies mode.

Platform Availability

Whether you’re gaming on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S|X, or Xbox One, you’re covered. The Beta is available across all these platforms, ensuring no one misses out on the action.

As we count down to the Beta’s end on September 9th, the anticipation for Black Ops 6 continues to build. With its inclusion in Game Pass from day one, Xbox gamers have an extra reason to be excited.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the full release of what promises to be one of the biggest titles of 2024.
