FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have officially confirmed that Elden Ring Nightreign will launch on 30th May 2025 across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
First revealed at The Game Awards 2024, this highly anticipated spin-off is taking the beloved Elden Ring series in a bold new direction, incorporating procedurally generated environments, class-based combat, and a shrinking battlefield mechanic.
Bandai Namco also released a brief 1-minute pre-order trailer which you can view below:
What is Elden Ring Nightreign?
Unlike the open-world RPG design of Elden Ring, Nightreign introduces a roguelike structure, where players navigate a world that changes with every session.
The game is built around a three-day in-game cycle, during which players must explore, survive, and ultimately face off against one of the eight Nightlords in a climactic final battle.
Main Gameplay Features:
- Procedurally Generated World – Every playthrough offers randomised elements, including boss placements, environmental hazards, and loot.
- Three-Player Co-op – Players can team up in squads of three, queuing as a full party, duo, or solo with matchmaking.
- Class-Based Combat – Choose from unique characters known as Nightfarers, each with distinct abilities and playstyles.
- Shrinking Battlefield – A blue firestorm progressively closes in, forcing players towards the final confrontation.
Nightfarers: The Playable Heroes
The beta will introduce four of the final eight Nightfarers, each offering a distinct combat role:
- Wylder – A balanced all-rounder.
- The Guardian – A high-defence tank.
- The Recluse – A mage wielding powerful ranged spells.
- The Duchess – A rogue specialising in stealth and critical strikes.
When is the Elden Ring Nightreign Beta Test?

Additional Features & Speculation
Since its reveal, Nightreign has been confirmed to feature legacy bosses from past FromSoftware titles, as well as infamous poisoned swamp areas appearing through randomised map changes.
While no additional public test has been announced, speculation suggests another open beta may occur before launch.

With Elden Ring being one of the highest-rated games of all time, Nightreign has a high bar to meet.
Especially with the critical acclaim that Shadow of The Erdtree DLC got.
Whether its roguelike elements, co-op play, and class-based combat will be embraced by fans remains to be seen—but all eyes are now on 30th May 2025.
