Gameloft is bringing the final chapter of its paid Storybook Vale expansion to Disney Dreamlight Valley with The Unwritten Realm, launching July 9th, 2025.
This marks the conclusion of the two-part storyline and introduces significant additions for those who own the expansion pass – including new characters, catchable entities called Snippets, deeper lore-based quests, and fresh themed content tied to Sleeping Beauty.
Maleficent Returns, Aurora Awakens
Following the events of Part 1, players will now enter the mysterious Unwritten Realm, a dreamlike space where forgotten stories linger and unfinished tales are born.
Here, players must rescue Maleficent after her disappearance and reunite with Princess Aurora, who debuts with two appearances – her classic look and an elegant Dream Style variant.
Both characters bring their own Friendship Quests, which once completed unlock themed items and costumes that mirror their iconic personalities, from regal grace to dark sorcery. Players will also discover how Maleficent and Hades are tied to the story’s unrest and what they’ve been plotting behind the scenes.
Snippets and Lorekeeper Tales Expand Exploration
Armed with a new Royal Tool, the Royal Net, players can now track down elusive creatures called Snippets. These beings represent fragments of the Lorekeeper’s pages, and must be collected and returned to reconstruct ancient Lorekeeper Tales.
Each completed Tale unlocks story-rich rewards inspired by classic Disney and Pixar films.
The new system deepens Disney Dreamlight Valley’s lore component, encouraging players to participate in puzzle-solving, story assembly, and active exploration as they help restore balance to the Vale.
Premium Shop Content
Players will also find Aurora- and Maleficent-themed bundles in the Premium Shop, available for all users whether they own the expansion or not. These cosmetic bundles can be purchased using Moonstones, continuing Gameloft’s pattern of monetised seasonal rewards.
Additionally, several long-standing bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements are being rolled out alongside the update, applying to both the base game and the Storybook Vale expansion.
