Kakao Games has moved Odin Q: Valkyrie’s Call into January 2027, pushing the upcoming PC and mobile MMORPG beyond its previous 2026 release target.
Co-CEO Lee Si-woo confirmed the revised launch timing during Kakao Games’ second-quarter 2026 earnings briefing. Odin Q is now listed among the company’s first-quarter 2027 releases, alongside God Save Birmingham.
Kakao Games had previously described Odin Q as a 2026 release. Earlier plans placed the MMORPG in the third quarter of 2026, meaning the new January window represents a delay of several months rather than the game’s first confirmed launch period.
| Release plan | Target |
|---|---|
| Earlier schedule | Q3 2026 |
| Considered alternative | Q4 2026 |
| Current launch window | January 2027 |
Lee said Kakao Games and developer Lionheart Studio had considered a fourth-quarter 2026 launch. The companies instead selected January after reviewing the competitive MMORPG market and deciding that the later window offered a more stable entry point.
Odin Q has reached the final stages of development, according to Kakao Games. Lee added that the publisher is not considering further schedule changes and insisted that the company’s revised slate had been checked carefully following repeated delays across its previous release plans.
That assurance is notable because Kakao Games openly acknowledged that earlier postponements had damaged confidence in its schedules. The new management team has reviewed the company’s projects, cancelled some titles and concentrated resources on games it believes are close enough to completion to launch as planned.
I think that January 2027 should therefore be treated as a firm internal target rather than a guaranteed public release date. Kakao Games has committed to the month during an earnings briefing, but it has not yet announced a precise day or opened a public launch countdown.
Odin Q: Valkyrie’s Call is a new MMORPG developed by Lionheart Studio, the team behind Odin: Valhalla Rising. The project was first shown under the working title Project Q at G-Star 2024 before receiving its final name.
The game is built with Unreal Engine 5 and presents its seamless 3D open world through a quarter-view camera. Lionheart Studio is combining that viewpoint with fast-paced combat, regional dungeon mechanics and large-scale warfare between player factions.
Kakao Games describes Odin Q as an expansion of the Odin intellectual property rather than a direct replacement for Odin: Valhalla Rising. The publisher believes the two games will attract different audiences because the original Odin emphasises open-world MMORPG exploration, while Odin Q centres more heavily on quarter-view combat and large-scale competitive content.
The game’s setting reinterprets the Edda and other elements of Norse mythology. Players will choose between different races and classes, build distinct combat styles and participate in both co-operative and competitive activities. Its story centres on warriors chosen to confront Ragnarok, with figures including Surtr and Jörmungandr represented in the game’s visual identity.
Kakao Games has only confirmed PC and mobile versions in its latest release schedule. The company has not announced PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo editions.
Odin Q is also important to Kakao Games’ wider recovery strategy. The publisher reported second-quarter revenue of ₩75 billion and an operating loss of ₩23 billion, with declining revenue from older live-service games and a shortage of recent launches continuing to affect its performance.
Kakao Games expects new releases to begin improving revenue during the fourth quarter of 2026 and is targeting a return to profitability in the first quarter of 2027. Odin Q is described internally as one of the company’s most important projects, placing considerable pressure on its January launch plans.
