A New Batman Arkham Game Coming This Year

There is to be another chapter in the long running Batman games with yet another Arkham game to be released this year. Yahoo Finance published a post on a Warner Bros Q4 2012 investors call.

The newly announced title will be named Batman Arkham Origins and it’s a prequel to the highly acclaimed Batman: Arkham series. Developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it is the third installment in the series.

The game takes place on Christmas Eve in Gotham City, where a younger and less experienced Dark Knight finds himself targeted by eight deadly assassins. The main storyline revolves around Batman’s efforts to uncover the origins of this deadly plot while also dealing with the criminal mastermind Black Mask.

In terms of gameplay, Batman: Arkham Origins retains the open-world, action-adventure style of its predecessors. Players navigate the city as The Caped Crusader, utilising his combat skills, stealth tactics, and a variety of gadgets to take down enemies and solve puzzles. The title introduces a new “Detective Mode” that enhances Batman’s detective abilities, allowing players to reconstruct crime scenes and gather evidence.

Arkham Origins features a range of familiar characters from the Batman universe, including the Joker, Bane, and Commissioner Gordon. The title also introduces new characters like Copperhead and Firefly. Alongside the main story, players can engage in side missions and challenges to further explore Gotham City and unlock additional content.

There isn’t any news on whether Rocksteady Studios will be involved in the development of the game. Fans will have to wait either sometime this year or early 2014. We will have news on this story as it develops throughout the course of the year.
