The Gears of War: Judgment OverRun demo launches for Xbox Live Gold members on 19 March, with multiplayer XP earned during the trial eligible to carry into the full game.
Microsoft first announced the OverRun demo release date in January, alongside three-day early access for qualifying GameStop pre-orders.
XP earned in the demo transfers into Gears of War: Judgment for players who purchase and play the full game during its first week after release. Microsoft said the transferred progress could immediately contribute towards weapon skins, medals and achievements.
OverRun combines class-based COG defence with playable Locust creatures. COG teams use Soldier, Medic, Scout and Engineer classes to defend objectives, while Locust players select different creatures and attempt to break through the COG positions.
The multiplayer mode uses five-player teams and switches the two sides between attack and defence. Victory depends on completing the Locust assault faster than the opposing team managed during its attacking round.
Gears of War: Judgment launches worldwide for Xbox 360 on 19 March 2013, the same day the public OverRun demo becomes available.
