Microsoft and Epic Games have announced that the Gears of War: Judgment OverRun demo will launch worldwide for Xbox Live Gold members on 19 March 2013.
US players can access the demo earlier through GameStop. PowerUp Rewards members who pre-order Gears of War: Judgment can begin playing on 15 March, with the early-access period ending on 18 March.
OverRun is a new objective-based multiplayer mode that pits five-player COG and Locust teams against each other. The two sides alternate roles rather than using identical classes and abilities.
COG players choose between Soldier, Medic, Scout and Engineer classes while defending objectives from the Locust. The opposing team instead controls different Locust creatures and attempts to break through the COG defences.
Multiplayer XP earned in the demo can also transfer into the retail game. The XP carryover applies to players who purchase and play Gears of War: Judgment during its first week after release.
Gears of War: Judgment launches worldwide for Xbox 360 on 19 March 2013, the same day that the OverRun demo becomes publicly available.
