Key Highlights:
- Tekken X Street Fighter remained in development at Bandai Namco, but no 2013 release date had been confirmed.
- The project was a separate game from Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken, which had already launched in 2012.
- Development was eventually put on hold after reaching roughly 30% completion, and the crossover has never been released.
Tekken X Street Fighter remained a planned crossover between Bandai Namco’s Tekken series and Capcom’s Street Fighter characters in early 2013, but no release date had been confirmed.
Bandai Namco announced Tekken X Street Fighter alongside Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken at San Diego Comic-Con in 2010. The two projects were designed as separate interpretations of the same crossover concept.
Capcom developed Street Fighter X Tekken around the 2D fighting structure associated with Street Fighter IV and released the game in 2012. Bandai Namco instead planned Tekken X Street Fighter around Tekken’s 3D movement and combat systems.
Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada had previously said Bandai Namco’s project was only around 10% complete in 2012. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 had been announced as its intended platforms, but Bandai Namco had not provided a launch date or confirmed that the game would release during 2013.
The project continued to surface over the following years. Harada reiterated in 2014 that Tekken X Street Fighter was still in development, but Bandai Namco eventually placed production on hold in 2016 to avoid splitting both the beat ’em up communities.
Harada later said development had reached roughly 30% before work stopped. Some completed animation work was subsequently reused for Akuma when the Street Fighter character appeared in Tekken 7.
Tekken X Street Fighter has never been released. Harada continued to discuss the unfinished crossover in later years, and eventually left the Tekken series at the end of 2025, but Bandai Namco never returned the game to active production.
