EA Sports and Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) have today decided to extend their long-running partnership. The extension will see EA have the license for the FIFA football games until December 2022.

EA will also have the rights to the official FIFA World Cup games and all the FIFA branded video games. Last years massively successful edition (FIFA 13) sold more than 14.5 million copies running up to March 2013. The figures were exclusively revealed by EA in their year-end financial results.

Them statistics mean that 13 sold 30% more units than FIFA 12 did to date! Electronic Arts Sports EVP Andrew Wilson commented “EA Sports released the first FIFA branded soccer game in 1993, and 20 years later our partnership with FIFA continues to be very strong.”
