Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros 2 will be launching on the North American Wii U virtual console on the 16th May next week. Gamers will be able to get the all-time classic for as little as $4.99. The game has been re-released countless times over the years, more recently on the Nintendo 3DS on November 28th 2012 in Japan.

Super Mario Bros 2 will be joining a very thin list when it launches on the virtual console service next week. So far, the pick from the bunch is Ice Climbers, Punch Out, Excitebike and Super Mario World. It would be interesting to hear our gaming community’s voice on this topic.

The game’s setting takes place in the dream world known as Subcon. Mario and his friends must navigate through various levels and defeat enemies to rescue the dreamland from the villainous Wart.
