Developed by Guerrilla Cambridge and published by Sony, it will be released exclusively for the PlayStation Vita handheld gaming console in 2013. The title recently undergone an open beta stage and will soon be available to fans.

Killzone: Mercenary takes place in the same universe as the main Killzone series, but it focuses on the perspective of mercenaries rather than the main factions. Players assume the role of a mercenary named Arran Danner, who becomes embroiled in a conflict between the Helghast and the ISA (Interplanetary Strategic Alliance) on the war-torn planet of Vekta.

The gameplay offers a compelling mix of intense action, tactical gameplay, and immersive visuals optimised for the PlayStation Vita hardware. Players engage in fast-paced firefights, utilise a wide range of weapons and gadgets, and complete various missions across diverse environments.

One of the standout features of Killzone: Mercenary is its innovative “Valor Card” system. During gameplay, players earn in-game currency called “Valor” by accomplishing objectives, eliminating enemies, and completing challenges. Valor can be spent on a variety of upgrades, weapons, and equipment, providing a sense of progression and customisation to the gameplay experience.

The multiplayer component allows players to engage in online competitive matches with up to eight players. It features a variety of game modes, including team deathmatch and a unique “Warzone” mode that combines different objectives into a single match.

The shooter fires it’s way to you on September 4th in most of Europe, September 5th in Portugal and Spain, and September 6th for the UK, Australia and Ireland. The North Americans will receive it on the 10th of August. It will be launched as a PlayStation Vita exclusive title.
