Sigma, the gravity-manipulating tank hero in Overwatch 2, has been momentarily ousted from the competitive sphere due to a critical bug linked with his ultimate move. This technical flaw may bestow an unwarranted edge to certain players, thereby sapping the enjoyment from users. Generally upsetting the balance of play. The game has been dogged with an array of glitches and hitches as of late. Which has proven stubbornly resistant to resolution.

Overwatch 2’s Bug Woes: Sigma Joins the Roster of Glitch-Plagued Heroes

Since its inaugural release in the tenth month of 2022, Overwatch 2 has been grappling with a burgeoning roster of bugs and issues. Players have expressed mounting exasperation as these defects pave the way for skewed game results. In-turn spoiling the competitive spirit of ranked matches. Blizzard, the game’s developer, had previously pulled the plug on Mei, following the detection of a severe bug connected with her Ice Wall ability. Post her re-introduction, Mei hasn’t been at the epicentre of any grave issues. Other heroes, namely Bastion and Torbjorn, also faced a brief hiatus due to ability kit glitches, but they have since been reinstated.

Sigma has been the latest hero to have trouble in Overwatch 2, with a bug that inexplicably permitted him to hover indefinitely being detected in ranked matches. This glitch, related to Sigma’s Ultimate ability, could unbalance the match dynamics, offering players an undue edge over their rivals. This led Blizzard to suspend Sigma from the ranked mode, albeit temporarily. Despite his absence in the ranked play, Sigma remains playable in the unranked and arcade formats.

Playing Unranked: Sigma Remains Available in Unaffected Game Modes

Aaron Keller, the Game Director of Overwatch 2, took to Twitter to announce Sigma’s suspension, assuring fans of an impending update. Subsequently, a representative from the community management team further explained the situation on the official forums. Encouraging players to utilise Sigma in the unranked and arcade formats, including the Starwatch, an exclusive mode of Overwatch 2.

Sigma, a tank hero in Overwatch 2, wields gravity to his advantage, enabling players to dish out damage and shield themselves with his AoE capabilities. He can dispatch a barrier to any desired location, although it disintegrates if it strays beyond the boundaries. His arsenal includes a pair of gravitic orbs that ricochet off walls, inflicting damage on foes. Intriguingly, Sigma can immobilise incoming projectiles, transforming them into overhealth. His Ultimate propels him into the skies, unveiling a circular targeting area wherein foes are hoisted up and then forcefully grounded if Gravitic Flux is triggered.

Blizzard routinely rolls out major updates packed with fresh content and gameplay tweaks to keep players hooked. However, some of these updates inadvertently trigger serious bugs, detracting from the overall gaming experience. Instances of such include an odd bug that suspends a player for the entirety of Season 4. Another recently unearthed map bug that results in instant death upon exiting the spawn point. Hopefully, the bugs with Sigma’s ultimate will be rapidly smoothed out. Ultimately enabling players to once again deploy him in ranked matches.

As of now, Overwatch 2 is accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
