Following weeks of speculation and enticing hints, Fortnite has finally revealed the character skins that will form part of the forthcoming Chapter 4, Season 3 Battle Pass. These include the iconic Optimus Prime from the popular Transformers series.
Epic’s mega-successful battle royale platform is no newcomer to guest appearances from pop culture’s biggest names, often timed strategically to coincide with the promotion of upcoming movies such as Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. A recent case in point was the appearance of Spider-Man (Miles Morales) and Spider-Man 2099, who swung into Fortnite just in time for the box office hit, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Shortly after the Spider-Verse collaboration, the grapevine began buzzing with whispers of Optimus Prime, the valiant commander of the Transformers’ Autobots, being the next high-profile Fortnite skin in the pipeline for Chapter 4 Season 3. The forthcoming expansion of Fortnite, entitled WILDS, is set to feature a jungle theme.
On the 6th of June, a cool new CGI trailer for the upcoming Fortnite season was revealed, affording players a quick look at the new character skins they can look forward to unlocking when it goes live later this week.
Revealing the New Skins: Optimus Prime Takes the Spotlight
Fortnite has now started showcasing some of these new playable character skins in all their glory on its official Twitter page. Earlier today, they posted promotional visuals for four of the eight Chapter 4 Season 3 characters, among them the upcoming Optimus Prime look from the soon-to-be-released Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film. The other skins displayed were a pink-clad Mariposa, a heavily armoured figure named Relik, and a tropical yellow outfit for Fortnite fan-favourite Meowscles, labelled Purradise Meowscles.
While all the newly unveiled Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 3 character skins are sure to catch the eye, Optimus Prime is likely to be the primary attraction for players aiming to construct and battle their way across the Island as the famed Transformers protagonist.
Unlocking Optimus: The Battle Pass Journey
However, it’s worth noting that typically with Fortnite guest character skins, they may not be immediately playable. A recent query from Fortnite’s Twitter account, asking players their predictions for the next unlockable Tier 100 skin, received a response from Microsoft suggesting it might be Optimus.
If this proves accurate, players would need to work their way through the majority of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3’s Battle Pass to gain access to Optimus Prime, at least until he makes his appearance in the Item Shop further down the line. But the good news is that it’s now confirmed: Optimus Prime will be rolling out in the BR just in time for his big-screen comeback later this week, alongside the other character skins launching in Ch4, S3 on June 9th.
