Along with this latest update, Bungie also released a brand new launch trailer for the upcoming season for the FPS shooter.

Seasonal Storyline Features Wish Dragon Riven

Bungie’s hit online multiplayer shooter Destiny 2 started its newest season – Season of the Wish. This season returns the iconic raid boss, Riven, the massive Wish Dragon. Players meet Riven to strike a deal and gain access to The Witness, the main antagonist for the current storyline.

As Destiny 2 approaches its climactic The Final Shape expansion to cap off the ongoing narrative saga, Season of the Wish drives up the stakes leading into the finale.

Crucible & Sandbox Changes

A main highlight for this season is Crucible finally getting some love. Alongside the new Crucible Labs mode, the team implemented updates for Survival gameplay modifiers to freshen up the experience. They also brought back the Citadel map and introduced Sparrow racing.

Overall, changes were made to improve spawn points, address multiplayer exploits and even added a new medal system. These should please PvP players greatly.

The extensive Patch Notes detail systematic improvements made under-the-hood for abilities, movement and data syncing between client and servers to enable tighter networked experiences.

Exotics & Weapons Revisions

Several Exotics notorious for being underwhelming got revisions to make them more usable. Likewise, adjustments went out for Stasis abilities, Swords, Glaives plus certain weapon archetypes like Auto Rifles, Pulse Rifles and Sniper Rifles. Perks also got tweaked to improve consistency and synergy between gear.

In terms of rewards, Legendary Shard costs got removed from several ritual activities to respect players’ time investment. The progression also feels smoother.

Overall Improvements

While framed as the final season leading up to the climactic The Final Shape expansion, Season of the Wish shows Bungie still actively improving the Destiny 2 experience especially for PvP activities. Combined with the next chapter for the title’s complex storyline, this next chapter offers quite a bit for all players to enjoy.
