World of Warcraft fans have long dreamed of being able to experience the beloved MMORPG on their consoles, and Blizzard is acknowledging that the possibility still exists, even if it’s not a priority at the moment.

In a recent interview with Gamesradar, Holly Longdale, the Vice President and Executive Producer of World of Warcraft, has addressed the topic of bringing the game to platforms beyond its traditional PC home.

“The dream remains,” Longdale told GamesRadar. “We’re so focused on delivering what’s on our slate for players and our expansions. There’s honestly no room for that conversation yet. But you know, the dream is real.”

This echoes comments Longdale made during last year’s BlizzCon, where she stated that the development team discusses the prospect of a console port “all the time.”

She also noted that from a technical standpoint, she didn’t foresee any major hurdles in bringing World of Warcraft to consoles like Xbox.

However, Longdale was quick to temper any speculation, clarifying that there are no immediate plans or announcements regarding a console version of the nearly 20-year-old MMORPG.

“I can’t say anything more than that,” Longdale told Eurogamer when directly asked about the possibility. “Nothing’s impossible.”

The comments come as Blizzard prepares to launch the next major expansion for WoW, titled “The War Within,” which is currently in beta testing.

Right now the limited-time battle royale mode known as Plunderstorm is keeping fans busy.

With the team heavily focused on delivering new content and maintaining the existing PC version of the game, it seems a potential console port is not a top priority at the moment.

That said, the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft could open new doors for the franchise.

As one of Blizzard’s flagship titles, bringing World of Warcraft to Xbox consoles would align with Microsoft’s efforts to expand its gaming ecosystem.

For now, though, World of Warcraft players will have to continue enjoying the game on their PCs, as Blizzard remains tight-lipped on any concrete plans for a console release.

The development team’s focus appears firmly fixed on continuing to evolve and improve the long-running MMORPG on its original platform.
