Creative Assembly has announced that the free Dynasties update for Total War: Pharaoh will be released on July 25th 2024.
This expansion-sized addition brings a wealth of new content to the strategy game, significantly enhancing the campaign experience for all players. Along with the release date was an overview trailer for the massive update which you can view below:
Expansion of Factions and Map
The Dynasties update introduces four new major factions: Babylon, Assyria, Mycenae, and Troy.
Each faction offers a unique campaign experience with historical leaders and diverse armies to command.
Additionally, 25 minor factions join the roster, including the Aeolians led by Achilles and Napata led by Memnon.
One of the most substantial changes is the expansion of the campaign map, which nearly doubles in size. The update adds 168 new settlements, extending the playable area from the Aegean to Mesopotamia.
New historical landmarks and victory objectives have been incorporated to enrich the gameplay experience.
To facilitate movement across this expanded world, Sea Travel Lanes have been introduced. These allow for faster fleet movement, enabling quicker raids and invasions across the Mediterranean and beyond.
New Dynasty System and Units
The Dynasties update also brings a new gameplay mechanic called the Dynasty system.
This feature allows players to start a family tree, engage in political marriages, and manage succession, adding a new layer of strategy to the long-term campaign.
Combat receives a significant overhaul with over 150 new and reworked units. The addition of cavalry and camel riders, along with faction-specific units like the Guards of Troy, promises to shake up battlefield tactics.
An optional Lethality modifier has been added for players seeking more realistic and deadly combat.
It’s worth noting that the Dynasties update will be delivered as a separate edition of the game in players’ digital libraries, rather than being integrated into the existing Total War: Pharaoh installation.
Possibly the last Content update for the game
Creative Assembly has stated that this is likely to be the final major content update for Total War: Pharaoh, although bug fixes and minor updates will continue to be released.
The Dynasties update addresses many community requests, particularly the inclusion of the Aegean Sea region, which was notably absent from the base game despite being present in Total War Saga: Troy.
This expansion not only adds new content but also reworks existing elements to better integrate with the game’s mechanics.
With its vast array of new features and content, the Dynasties update promises to breathe new life into Total War: Pharaoh, offering both new and returning players a fresh experience in the ancient world.
