Maxis and Electronic Arts have unveiled the official gameplay trailer and release date for The Sims 4 Lovestruck Expansion Pack. Set to launch on July 25th 2024, this new pack promises to deepen the romantic aspects of the game with a host of new features and content.
As usual with video game news, this expansion got leaked a few weeks ago which we reported on.
This latest expansion introduces Ciudad Enamorada, a new world designed for romantic encounters.
This city comes with three neighbourhoods and various locations for couples to explore, including new WooHoo spots and hangouts for single Sims.
A key addition is the Cupid’s Corner dating app, allowing Sims to create profiles, take selfies, and find potential matches based on their preferences.
The new Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs system adds depth to attraction, considering activities, characteristics, and romance styles.
Relationship Dynamics is another significant feature, categorising relationships as wholesome, steamy, strained, or unpredictable. Each type has distinct characteristics:
- Wholesome: Loved-up couples showing affection through romantic and friendly actions
- Steamy: Relationships focused on physical intimacy
- Strained: Unhappy couples prone to unkindness
- Unpredictable: Volatile relationships swinging between conflict and passion
The pack also introduces new traits (Lovebug and Romantically Reserved), fears (Fear of Intimacy and Fear of Being Alone), and a Romance Consultant career.
A new Romance skill allows Sims to learn about their partners and maintain Relationship Satisfaction.
For base game players, a free update will add the Romantic Boundaries system, allowing customisation of boundaries and jealousy, and enabling polyamorous relationships.
Players who purchase the expansion between the 27th of June and 5th of September 2024 will receive the Heartbreak Happens Digital Content as a bonus.
EA have been really charitable as of late to their customer-base, gifting free stuff packs left, right and centre.
The Sims 4: Lovestruck Expansion Pack will be available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, offering players across platforms the chance to explore these new romantic gameplay elements.
