Dambuster Studios, the developer behind the popular zombie action game Dead Island 2, has announced that a significant free update will be released on 22 October. The update, known as Patch 6, is set to introduce a plethora of new content and highly anticipated features as revealed in a blog post on the official website.
One of the most notable additions in Patch 6 is the inclusion of a New Game Plus mode. This mode will allow players to replay the main story while retaining their preferred characters and weapons.
Moreover, New Game Plus will offer an expanded skill slot, increased level cap, additional weapon skins, and a more challenging difficulty setting. Players can also expect to encounter new enemy types during their second playthrough.
Alongside New Game Plus, Patch 6 will introduce Neighbourhood Watch, a brand new cooperative horde mode.
In Neighbourhood Watch, players will join forces to defend a neighbourhood from waves of zombie attacks.
The mode will task players with completing objectives, setting traps, and amassing a powerful arsenal to survive the final confrontation on the fifth day.
As players progress through Neighbourhood Watch, they will continuously unlock new abilities, enhancing the mode’s replayability. Furthermore, the update will introduce a variety of fresh content to the game, including:
- New weapons to collect and utilise in combat
- Additional character skins for customisation
- An original location to explore and defend
- Innovative gameplay mechanics to keep the experience engaging
Since its release, Dead Island 2 has garnered a dedicated player base on Steam, and the upcoming Patch 6 update is expected to draw even more players to the title.
The second paid expansion SoLA was released in April this year and was met with high praise within the community.
This followed on from the Haus story DLC that was first released not that long after initial launch.
The latest incoming update caters to both solo and cooperative play styles, ensuring that there is new content for all types of players.
Dambuster Studios has stated that more information regarding Patch 6 will be shared in the coming months leading up to its release.
Fans can look forward to learning more details about the New Game + mode, Neighbourhood Watch, and the various additions and improvements the update will bring to the game.
With the substantial Patch 6 update slated for release on October 22nd, Dead Island 2 is poised to offer players an even more expansive and thrilling zombie-slaying experience.
