- New season features legendary beasts theme.
- BMW 1 Series cars and Drift Woods arena introduced.
Rocket League is set to kick off its 16th season with a haunting twist, as developer Psyonix unveils a host of new content inspired by legendary beasts and urban folklore.
The new season, launching on September 4th, promises to deliver a thrilling mix of horror-themed items and eerie environments that will keep players on the edge of their seats.
At the heart of Season 16 is the new Drift Woods arena, a shadowy battleground set in the depths of a mysterious forest.
Matches will unfold at dusk, creating an atmosphere of suspense and uncertainty.
Car customisation takes centre stage this season, with over 70 tiers of rewards available across free and Premium Rocket Passes.
Players can deck out their vehicles with spooky accessories like the Chupacabra Topper, Sasquatch Print Wheels, and Mothman Decal. The ‘Eyescore’ Goal Explosion promises to be a particular highlight, keeping a watchful eye on the entire arena.
Two new BMW models are joining the Rocket League garage: the BMW 1 Series and BMW 1 Series RLE.
Both cars use the Octane hitbox and will be eligible for cross-game ownership with Fortnite at a later date. Premium Pass holders will automatically unlock the standard BMW 1 Series, with the RLE version available as they progress through the tiers.
Gameplay Enhancements and Auditory Thrills
Psyonix has also addressed a long-standing community request by improving the post-demolition camera.
Now, players will be able to track their journey from the point of destruction to their respawn location, adding an extra layer of strategy to the game.
The new season brings fresh sounds to the pitch as well. The theme song “Lie”, a collaboration between Monstercat artists Mr. Bill and Culprate, will feature on the Rocket League X Monstercat 2024 Playlist.
Recently, long-serving football organisation FIFA announced a new eSports tournament hosted by RL.
The timing of S16 seems perfect, with its late summer launch building anticipation for the Halloween season. Players will have until December 4th to unlock all the ghostly goodies on offer.
