Sony Interactive Entertainment is set to commemorate three decades of gaming innovation with the unveiling of its PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection. This limited edition range, announced by Hideaki Nishino, CEO of Sony’s Platform Business Group, pays homage to the iconic design of the original PlayStation console launched on December 3rd, 1994.

Limited Edition Offerings: From Consoles to Accessories
The collection features a variety of products that blend the past with cutting-edge technology:
- PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle
- PlayStation Portal Remote Player – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition
- DualSense Edge Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition
- DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition
The centrepiece of the collection, the PS5 Pro bundle, boasts impressive specifications including a 2TB SSD and Wi-Fi 7 support in compatible regions.
Only 12,300 units will be available, each bearing a unique etched number symbolising the launch date of the first PlayStation.
Both console bundles come with an array of nostalgic collector’s items, including an original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing, PlayStation Shapes cable ties, and a limited edition poster (one of 30 possible designs).
Sony has a history of releasing console bundles, and the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 limited-edition PS5 bundle last year was a prime example, generating significant excitement among fans.
Nishino reflected on PlayStation’s journey, highlighting the technological leaps from 300,000 pixels to over 8 million for 4K displays, and the evolution from basic button controls to the advanced haptics and adaptive triggers of modern controllers.
The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be released on November 21st. Pre-orders begin on September 26th through direct.playstation.com in regions where available, with participating retailers offering pre-orders in other areas.
