Overview of Patch 2.2
Released on December 10th, 2024, Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 brings a wealth of features aimed at enhancing player expression and exploration.
Dubbed “Express Yourself,” this patch integrates major vehicle and character customisation updates, a revamped Photo Mode, and a secret side quest tied to the Balatro card game.
A new developer video showcasing an overview of the patch was uploaded to the game’s official YouTube channel which you can watch above.
Secret Balatro Quest
One of the standout features of Patch 2.2 is the hidden Balatro-themed quest, developed as a crossover between the Cyberpunk universe and the Balatro card game.
According to Radek Grabowski, CD Projekt Red’s PR Director, the collaboration stemmed from the creative input of Quest Designer Maria Mazur.
Players who complete the quest are rewarded with the Joker of Night City package, which includes:
- A Joker-themed shirt
- A Balatro trophy for display in V’s apartment
This addition underlines CD Projekt Red’s dedication to enriching Night City’s narrative tapestry, with hidden quests continuing to surprise players.

Vehicle Customisation Expansion
The CrystalCoat™ feature, first introduced in Patch 2.11, has been expanded to include a variety of vehicles from brands such as Mizutani, Villefort, and Quadra.
New options like TwinTone™ allow players to scan vehicles and replicate their paint jobs for owned cars, adding an exploration aspect to customisation.
Notable Features:
- Heat-Level Escape: Changing your vehicle’s paint during a police chase now reduces your wanted level.
- New Vehicles: Ten vehicles, including the Quadra Type-66 640 TS and Villefort Deleon V410-S Coupe, have been added to the Autofixer shop.
Enhanced Photo Mode
As we saw in patch 1.63, the photo mode has had adjustments along with in-game quests.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the reworked Photo Mode, which offers significant improvements:
- Drone Camera: Now free-moving with extended range
- Collision Toggle: Enables more creative shots by bypassing obstacles
- New NPC Features: Players can spawn and pose up to three NPCs, including iconic characters like Adam Smasher
The updated Photo Mode allows users to capture and display their favourite moments in V’s apartment gallery, adding a personal touch to Night City’s immersion.
Character Customisation Additions
Update 2.2 introduces 112 new assets for character creation, including:
- Faceplates inspired by The Mox
- New nail and lip designs from various in-game corporations
- Double-eye configurations and a “plain to punk” randomiser
These additions ensure players can craft highly personalised avatars, further reinforcing the game’s “Express Yourself” theme. The full patch notes can be found on the official website using the hyperlink.
