Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is in the wings, preparing for what might as well be a second debut. Eager to shed the sour memory of its unfortunate maiden voyage, this grand expansion pack aims to demonstrate the game’s true potential. The original launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was undoubtedly a low point, with a product that fell short of its lofty promises. Despite the missteps, a gem of a game lay beneath the surface, and with tireless dedication, the developers have gradually polished it to a gleam.
The New Features in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
Now, standing on the brink of an epic turnaround, Cyberpunk 2077 seeks to redefine itself through “Phantom Liberty.” The expansion delivers far more than just an extended plotline set against the backdrop of Night City. It’s an ambitious overhaul, a revamp of the gaming experience that aligns more closely with the original vision. Rebuilding gameplay from its very foundations, Phantom Liberty showcased its ambition in a tantalising demo at Summer Game Fest 2023, igniting a wave of anticipation within the Cyberpunk 2077 fanbase.
A sneak peek into the revised talent tree system, courtesy of New Blood Interactive’s CEO, Dave Oshry, has fanned the flames of excitement. Shared by Reddit user jordgoin, the image reveals a streamlined and consolidated system, covering Assault, Handguns, and Blades. The nebulous ‘skill bush’ has transformed into a more organised and intuitively structured skill tree.
Three tiers of nodes, primary, secondary, and ultimate, now shape each skill category. Primary nodes, it’s speculated, provide a specialisation path for characters, while secondary nodes offer passive bonuses. The ultimate nodes, like beacons on a mountain peak, appear to signify game-changing abilities, such as Deathbolt.
Cyberpsychosis in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: A Game of Strategic Augmentation
Phantom Liberty also introduces cyberpsychosis into Cyberpunk 2077, adding a layer of strategic decision-making regarding the augmentation of characters with cyberware. With these significant changes on the horizon, a fresh start in Night City is highly advised. The gameplay overhaul will come free of charge with Update 1.7, but purchasing Phantom Liberty unlocks a new game-ending scenario.
