Strategy title The Sims 4 has received a substantial base game update ahead of the Enchanted by Nature expansion, and it’s now live across all platforms.

This free update is more than just a patch; it lays the groundwork for the upcoming fairy-themed content while giving every player access to new Build/Buy tools, interface improvements, and quality-of-life features.

While Enchanted by Nature introduces magical Fairies, balance mechanics, and a new world, this update – unofficially dubbed Planting Seeds of Enchantment brings more grounded enhancements, both aesthetic and practical.

Glass Walls and Rooftop Plants Now Buildable

In Build Mode, players now have access to glass wall panels and glass roofs, long-requested features that expand architectural creativity. These elements are available under the Wall Patterns and Roof categories, with variations that include frames or frameless panes.

Glass walls can be used for:

• Greenhouses and plant sanctuaries
• Retail displays with maximum visibility
• Modern homes and aesthetic showcases
• Indoor partitions with full transparency

Also new is the ability to place certain plants directly on rooftops, using the Roof Sculptures tab.

This allows for natural overgrowth aesthetics, fairy huts, woodland hideaways, or simply eco-forward rooftop gardens. Not all plants are roof-compatible, but those that are will display a roof icon in their tooltip.

Overhauled Inventory Sorting and Spoiled Food Indicators

The Sim Inventory system has been completely reworked to support new gameplay needs introduced in Enchanted by Nature, such as food gathering, crafting, and emotion-based survival.

• Children no longer become silly stretchy Sims when picking up a Violin.
• The top-secret recipe for the Fear-Be-Gone potion has been altered to include [redacted] so it properly cures a Sim’s Fear of the Dark.
