Running from May 7 to May 20, 2025, this event marks a shift in gameplay structure, requiring more deliberate character progression and interaction with both the Valley and its Realms.
What sets this event apart is how tightly it’s structured: progression is tied not only to finding in-world anomalies but also to having certain characters unlocked ahead of time.
Without them, portions of the event – and by extension, its rewards – are locked away.
Unlock Requirements: Which Characters You’ll Need
To fully participate in Cheshire Chaos, you must have unlocked and welcomed the following characters as Villagers in your Valley:
- Buzz and Woody from the Toy Story Realm
- Simba and Nala from the Lion King Realm
- Jasmine and Aladdin from the Agrabah Realm
These characters are essential because each is tied to specific Realm-based tasks that activate on set dates throughout the event.
While Buzz, Woody, Simba, and Nala have been in the game for a while, Jasmine and Aladdin are relatively recent additions, making them a potential bottleneck for some players.
Tip: If Jasmine and Aladdin aren’t in your Valley yet, make recruiting them your top priority, without them, two of the four event rewards will remain inaccessible.
Cheshire Cat’s Shenanigans: Event Phases & Objectives
The event is divided into four major milestones, each unlocking a unique reward:
🗓️ Phase 1 – May 7
- Objective: Search for Cheshire Cracks in any biome of the Valley.
- Mechanic: One pink-glowing crack spawns every 15 minutes, with a cap of 5.
- Action: Dig them up to gather Memory Shards. Completing the memory unlocks the first reward.
🐾 Phase 2 – May 7
- Objective: Locate pink paw prints on one of the Realm doors and within that Realm.
- Mechanic: One paw print spawns every 10 minutes, max 5 at once.
- Action: Use the Royal Watering Can to remove 20 of them and claim the second reward.
🔓 Phase 3 – May 11
- Objective: Clean up another Realm affected by Cheshire Cat’s chaos.
- Requirement: Unlocked characters from previous phases must be in your Valley.
- Action: Complete Realm-specific tasks to unlock the third reward.
✨ Phase 4 – May 15
- Objective: Purge the final Realm from Cheshire Cat’s interference.
- Action: Clear the tasks to receive the fourth and final reward.
Note: The Realms unlock progressively. If a Realm task isn’t available, check the date and make sure the required characters have been moved in.
Event Mechanics & Tracking Progress
Players can follow their event status in a dedicated Event tab within the menu. This tab tracks:
- Total number of cracks or paw prints cleared
- Memory completion status
- Reward unlock progress
Merlin will also send you helpful mail at the start of the event, offering tips and nudges to keep you on track.
Interestingly, Alice and her Realm are not involved in this event, a curious omission, considering the theme.
However, this might come as a relief to players who haven’t yet unlocked that content, allowing broader participation without that specific barrier.
What’s Next: Parks Fest on the Horizon
Following Cheshire Chaos, players can look forward to the return of Parks Fest.
While an official date has not been confirmed, recent leaks point to May 28 through June 17, 2025.
Expect more themed activities, character appearances, and collectible rewards celebrating Disney’s theme park legacy. September should also off a Memory Mania Event, if DDV history is anything to go by.
Cheshire Chaos ties story advancement, reward access, and world activity tightly together. If you’ve been holding off on unlocking certain characters, now’s the time to do so.
