Original NES Game + New Enhanced Version
This release isn’t just the original ROM on a modern disc. The package includes:
- The classic 1987 version with save states and rewind
- A fully Enhanced mode featuring:
- A multi-chapter story packed with nods to all four Jaws films
- New quests and objectives
- Upgraded boat and diver abilities
- A wider range of enemies
- Expanded RPG-style mechanics
The NES game took some liberties with the film, but fans still see it as one of LJN’s better efforts. You travel the map by boat, dive into random encounters, collect conch shells to upgrade your speargun, and eventually hunt down the great white itself. Only after draining its health can you ram the shark with your ship for the final kill.
The original marketing leaned into full 80s drama: warm tropical waters, a possessed shark, and a desperate fight for survival. Mini-subs, seaplanes, explosives – if you could throw it at a shark, it counted.
Pre-Orders Open Soon
Both editions of Jaws: Retro Edition will be available exclusively through Limited Run Games from 19 December. If you want the NES-style collector’s box or that brilliant pixel shark lamp, you’ll need to secure a copy before orders close on 18 January 2026.
