eFootball Launches World Cup-Themed Campaign With New Modes and Player Rewards

Key Highlights:

  • Konami’s eFootball launched a World Cup campaign until July 23, featuring new modes like International Cup 2026 and Player of the Day live cards.
  • Players can earn rewards including Messi, Yamal, Coins, and national team contracts, plus referral incentives with special Gerrard cards.
  • The campaign focuses on live updates, community growth, and fan events.

Konami has rolled out a major in-game campaign for eFootball, using the momentum of the ongoing international football tournament to introduce new modes, rewards and time-limited events designed to boost player engagement.

The promotion runs until 23 July and spans PC, console and mobile versions of the free-to-play football title. At its core is a push to attract both returning players and newcomers by tying content updates directly to real-world football performances and tournament excitement.

One of the main additions is the International Cup 2026 mode. This allows players to select national teams and progress through a full tournament structure, starting from the group stage and moving through to knockout rounds and a final. While it mirrors the format of the global competition, it does not carry official branding.

Konami is also incentivising daily play with login rewards throughout the campaign window. Players can claim high-profile cards including Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal, alongside eFootball Coins and special selection contracts linked to national teams such as Argentina and Spain. These rewards are designed to help users strengthen squads quickly during the event period.

A key feature arriving on 13 June is “Player of the Day”, a system that brings standout real-world performances into the game in near real time. Players who excel during the tournament will be converted into special in-game cards, reinforcing eFootball’s shift towards live-service style updates that react to football events as they happen.

Alongside competitive content, Konami is also focusing on community growth. A referral programme allows players to invite friends into the game, earning rewards for successful participation. One of the standout incentives includes a special Steven Gerrard card unlocked through friend match objectives.

Konami has positioned the campaign as part of its broader strategy to remain competitive in the football gaming space, especially following changes in licensing across the industry. With multiple publishers now competing for attention during football’s biggest global event, live updates and rapid content drops have become a key battleground.

Remarkably eFootball has continued to expand its global reach, with the title surpassing 1 billion downloads earlier this year. The campaign also coincides with broader promotional activity, including fan events such as the upcoming eFootball World Festival in Bangkok.
