Key Highlights:

  • 2K has confirmed that TopSpin 2K25’s online servers will close on December 31, 2027.
  • Most online modes and multiplayer features will become unavailable after the shutdown.
  • Offline modes, including TopSpin Academy and Exhibition, will remain playable.

2K has officially confirmed when the online services for TopSpin 2K25 will come to an end, giving players plenty of notice before the tennis title loses its multiplayer features.

The publisher announced that servers for TopSpin 2K25 will remain active until December 31, 2027. Once the shutdown takes place, players will no longer be able to access the game’s online modes and connected features across all platforms.

Most Online Features Will Disappear

Although the game itself will not become completely inaccessible, a large portion of its content depends on online connectivity. After the servers go offline, only a limited selection of offline modes will remain available.

According to information shared by 2K, players will still be able to access TopSpin Academy and Exhibition mode, allowing fans to continue playing local matches and training activities. However, multiplayer and other internet-based features will no longer function.

The decision follows a change in plans from the original launch period. When TopSpin 2K25 released in April 2024, notices indicated that online support could end as early as December 2026. The publisher later extended the game’s lifespan by an additional year, pushing the shutdown date to the end of 2027.

Trophy Hunters Still Have Time

Players chasing full completion have more than enough time to finish the game’s online requirements. Several achievements and trophies rely on multiplayer functionality, meaning they will become unobtainable once the servers close.

Those aiming for 100% completion should make sure to unlock the online-related accomplishments before the December 31, 2027 deadline.

Questions Remain Over the Series’ Future

The announcement has also raised questions about what comes next for the franchise. TopSpin 2K25 marked the series’ return after a lengthy absence, arriving 13 years after Top Spin 4.

At the time of writing, 2K has not announced a successor. While the publisher could potentially release another entry before support ends, no official plans have been revealed.

For now, TopSpin 2K25 remains one of the few premium tennis games available, and players still have more than a year to enjoy its online experience before the servers are switched off.
