Marvel Rivals has revealed another summer-themed cosmetic for its growing collection of seasonal outfits, with Black Widow becoming the latest hero to receive a swimsuit skin during the game’s Summer Festival Event 2026.

NetEase showcased the new “Aquatic Assassin” costume in a short trailer ahead of its release on June 25. The cosmetic gives Natasha Romanoff a beach-inspired redesign while retaining her signature assassin aesthetic, offering players a fresh look for one of Marvel Rivals‘ most recognisable characters.

The Aquatic Assassin skin will be available in three colour variations. Players can choose between a white-and-gold version, a crimson-red design inspired by Black Widow’s traditional colour scheme, or a dark green and white variant. The bundle is expected to cost 2,200 Units, which is roughly equivalent to $22.

The new cosmetic is part of Marvel Rivals’ ongoing Summer Festival Event, which has already introduced several beach-themed outfits throughout Season 8. NetEase previously released popular summer skins for Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, while additional costumes for Captain America, White Fox and Daredevil are also planned.

The trailer itself focuses primarily on Black Widow’s updated appearance, featuring a brief cinematic sequence before showing a short glimpse of gameplay. Some players have jokingly pointed out how little gameplay footage was included, with several community members continuing to debate Black Widow’s current effectiveness following recent balance adjustments.

Black Widow has had a mixed reception in recent months after a series of nerfs left some players feeling that the hero struggles to compete with stronger picks in the current meta. As a result, many fans are hoping future updates will provide buffs that make her a more attractive choice in competitive matches.

I’ve noticed that cosmetic releases often generate more discussion than balance updates in hero shooters, and Black Widow’s latest skin is a good example. Even with ongoing debates about her place in the meta, the character remains one of Marvel’s most recognisable heroes, making premium cosmetics an easy way to keep players engaged between major content drops.

Black Widow is no stranger to gaming crossovers outside of Marvel Rivals either. Back in 2019, Epic Games introduced Black Widow-themed cosmetics to Fortnite as part of its Avengers collaboration, including the Widow’s Bite pickaxe modelled after her signature batons. The cosmetic made headlines again in 2024 when it returned to the Item Shop after almost five years, ending one of the longest absences for a Marvel-themed Fortnite item.

Looking beyond Season 8, rumours continue to circulate about future additions to the roster. Recent leaks have pointed towards characters such as Doctor Doom and Nightcrawler potentially joining the game in upcoming seasons, though NetEase has yet to officially confirm those plans.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
