Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Free Update Adds Spider-Man Brand New Day Suit

Key Highlights:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is getting a free new costume inspired by Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
  • The Fresh Start suit arrives on PS5 and PC through a free update on July 28.
  • The costume launches days before the MCU film reaches cinemas on July 31.

Insomniac Games has confirmed a new free update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that will bring Peter Parker’s costume from the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie to players on PlayStation 5 and PC.

The update arrives on July 28, just three days before the next Marvel Studios film hits cinemas on July 31. Players will be able to download the outfit at no additional cost and add another movie-inspired suit to the game’s extensive collection.

The new costume, known as the Fresh Start suit, is based on Peter Parker’s appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The design embraces a more traditional red-and-blue look, featuring a prominent spider emblem across the chest and mechanical web-shooters mounted beneath the wrists.

Unlike some of the more advanced armour variants seen in previous MCU films, the new outfit returns to a simpler style that closely resembles classic Spider-Man designs.

Insomniac showcased the costume shortly after the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuted, giving fans another reason to return to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 nearly three years after its original release.

There’s been a few updates for accessibility and bug fixes since the game’s release, but nothing major for while.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 already features a wide range of suits inspired by Spider-Man’s cinematic history. Players can unlock costumes based on Tom Holland’s appearances in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War and Spider-Man: No Way Home, alongside outfits inspired by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s film versions of the character.

The addition of the Fresh Start suit further expands a roster that already contains dozens of costumes for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

While Spider-Man fans are receiving one more free addition, Insomniac Games is preparing for its next major release. Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch on September 15, marking the studio’s first new superhero title since Spider-Man 2.

There has been no official announcement regarding a sequel or the previously rumoured Venom spin-off project, but the continued support for Spider-Man 2 suggests Insomniac has not completely moved on from the web-slinger’s latest adventure.

Players on PS5 and PC will be able to claim the Fresh Start costume when the free update goes live on July 28.
