Hangar 13 has released the first extended gameplay from Mafia: The Old Country’s Man of Honor expansion, revealing new missions, equipment and Free Ride activities built around a younger Ennio Salieri.
Man of Honor launches for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 14, 2026. The paid expansion requires the base game and is not included with the Mafia: The Old Country Deluxe Edition.
The new story takes place in Sicily during the winter of 1905, several months after Enzo Favara’s initiation into the Torrisi crime family. Don Torrisi sends Enzo and Cesare to assist Salieri, who has recently left prison and wants to reclaim what was taken from him.
Man of Honor adds two story chapters covering a previously unseen period in Enzo’s life as a soldato. Enzo will help Salieri settle old scores before joining him in pursuit of a potentially life-changing opportunity.
The expansion also connects directly to the original Mafia. Salieri eventually emigrates to the United States and becomes the head of the Salieri crime family in Lost Heaven, where he employs Tommy Angelo during Mafia and Mafia: Definitive Edition.
Hangar 13 design director Josh Zammit said the expansion provided an opportunity to show Salieri before his rise to power. This younger version remains respected and dangerous, but he must compete for his share of the Torrisi family’s criminal operations rather than commanding an established organisation.
Salieri also becomes Enzo’s new contact for exclusive Free Ride content. Hangar 13 originally added Free Ride mode with repeatable challenges, races and first-person driving through a free update in November 2025. Man of Honor expands that foundation with Salieri’s Challenges and Salieri’s Jobs, which players collect from his warehouse in Porto Almaro.
Salieri’s Challenges expand the activities already available in Free Ride mode. The harder assignments include combat encounters, stealth assassinations and car races designed for players who have already mastered the original challenges.
Salieri’s Jobs introduce new mission structures with more freedom over how Enzo completes each objective. Assignments include locating hidden caches, towing valuable vehicles back to Salieri and stealing trucks carrying fragile cargo. Successful jobs reward additional Dinari.
| Man of Honor content | Confirmed additions |
|---|---|
| Story chapters | 2 |
| Guns | 3 |
| Knives | 3 |
| Charms | 5 |
| Vehicles | 3 |
| Horses | 2 |
| Outfits | 3 |
| Hats | 5 |
The expansion adds 24 listed equipment and cosmetic rewards across those categories. Steam’s product page also confirms new Achievements, although 2K has not yet published their names or requirements. Some content must be unlocked through gameplay rather than becoming available immediately after installation.
Players can spend their Dinari on expansion-exclusive weapons, Charms, outfits, vehicles and horses. Hangar 13 has deliberately allowed some of these rewards to move beyond the base game’s strict period realism.
The Rimbalzu throwing knife is the clearest example. After striking one enemy, the knife ricochets towards a second target, allowing Enzo to eliminate two enemies during a single stealth attack. Zammit acknowledged that the technique would be almost impossible in reality, but said the effect was designed to make the expansion’s equipment feel more powerful and playful.
I think the Rimbalzu matters more than its novelty suggests. It indicates that Hangar 13 is using optional expansion equipment to introduce exaggerated gameplay perks without changing the grounded identity of the main campaign.
Man of Honor also expands the Valle Dorata map with new locations and discoverable activities. The base game’s exploration and side content already included horseback travel, vintage cars and activities across 1905 Sicily, while the expansion adds Wanted Posters, Stunt Jumps and sulphur delivery trucks belonging to Salieri’s enemies.
The Wanted Posters continue a long-running Mafia tradition of placing developer faces inside the game world. Zammit confirmed that his own photograph appears among the new mugshots.
Free Ride itself was not part of Mafia: The Old Country when the game launched in August 2025. Hangar 13 added the mode through a free update on November 20, opening the Valle Dorata for exploration outside the linear campaign and introducing repeatable races, combat missions and stealth challenges.
Man of Honor therefore does not replace or lock the existing Free Ride mode behind payment. All owners retain the original mode, while expansion buyers receive Salieri’s exclusive Jobs, extreme Challenges, rewards, collectibles and locations.
That ownership distinction is important because the Deluxe Edition does not grant access to the expansion. The older package includes the Padrino Pack, Gatto Nero Pack, digital artbook and soundtrack, but Man of Honor must be purchased separately.
Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor launches on August 14 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
