EA and Crytek confirmed in December 2012 that Crysis 3 would launch in February 2013, narrowing the first-person shooter’s previous spring 2013 release window.

The game was scheduled to arrive in North America on 19 February 2013, followed by its UK release on 22 February. Crysis 3 was developed by Crytek for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Crysis 3 continued the story of Prophet and returned players to New York, which had been transformed into an overgrown urban rainforest beneath the CELL Corporation’s Liberty Dome. The game also introduced the Predator Bow as a major new weapon, while the Nanosuit remained central to its stealth and combat systems.

Ahead of the February launch, Crytek held a Crysis 3 multiplayer beta across PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The beta began on 29 January 2013 and gave players access to the Hunter and Crash Site multiplayer modes before the full game arrived.

The announced February release window was ultimately met. Crysis 3 launched in North America on 19 February 2013 before reaching the UK on 22 February.

Crytek later returned to the game with Crysis 3 Remastered. The remastered version launched on 15 October 2021 as a standalone release and as part of the Crysis Remastered Trilogy, bringing the game to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and modern PCs.

Crysis 3 Remastered also benefited from newer console hardware through backwards compatibility, with Crytek targeting improved resolution and performance of up to 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
