Our Full Crysis 3 Review

Crysis 3 Review

Crysis 3 without a doubt is one of the most anticipated first-person shooter in 2013. Developer Crytek followed up the critically acclaimed Crysis 1 and 2 with a sequel worthy of Crysis series. However, several technical glitches and design problem still plague this game from perfection.

Storyline

In this game, you step in the role of the Prophet as you enter the post-apocalyptic world of New York City. In the year of 2047, New York have been conquered by the corrupt C.E.L.L corporation. This corporation also built Nanodome, a mysterious structure in the heart of New York City.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Crysis 3 is similar to any other first person shooter out there. However, there’s an interesting twist: instead of using gun to shoot your way through the enemies.

This time, you will use bow. Yes, a bow. You will be equipped with a special bow that have customizable ammo. Beside a bow, you will be also equipped with a special nano-suit. This nano-suit will let you disappear. You can also hack many electronic turrets in the game.

The gameplay itself is very fun. Using your bow is much more fulfilling compared using your gun like other FPS. However, Crysis 3 is an easy game. You can complete it in less than 8 hours in normal difficulty mode.

The AI of this game is not remarkable, they are easily exploited by an experienced player. For example, we exploit machine gun turrets that’s often found in the map to kill the AI easily. They also have difficulty in detecting us while wearing nano-suit.

Graphics

One of the strong points of the entire Crysis series. Developer Crytek once more delivered a truly beautiful graphic engine. Even on console and medium-setting graphic PC, the graphics are just absolutely stunning.

Crysis new graphic engine capture the feeling of post-apocalyptic New York City environment well. We feel that the lead artist of Crysis 3 captures the city environment really well: it is a combination of a jungle in Crysis 1 with an urban jungle found in Crysis 2.

Multiplayer Mode

Crysis 3 is mainly a single player video game. However, it does deliver an enjoyable multiplayer experience. The class/perk system of Crysis 3 is similar to the Call of Duty series. One of the best features of the games multiplayer is the “Hunter Mode”.

This mode pits two cloaked hunter with C.E.L.L soldier. Every soldier killed in this game will switch side into a hunter. It is a new, original mode in otherwise saturated online first person shooter game.

The soundtrack of this game is really well done. The music captures the intensity of the moment quiet well. The sound effect of the gun is particularly well done.

Replay Value

Even though the single player campaign of Crysis is very intense, there are no branching path or decision that you can make in this game. So, the linearity made this game have limited replay value which is unfortunate.

Lasting Appeal

Crysis 3 is by far one of the most promising first person shooter games in 2013. Its superb graphics, exciting single player campaign make it worthwhile to buy. We hope you get an idea of whether or not to try the hotly anticipated shooting game out from our review.

We are definitely big fans of the game at GLN and think that for gamers that enjoyed the first couple of installments, you’ll certainly not be disappointed from this latest version. We give it a really good review Rating: 8 out of 10 overall.
