Key Highlights:

  • EA and DICE have released a new Battlefield 4 teaser titled Prepare 4 Battle: Sea.
  • The short clip focuses on a ship propeller, strongly hinting that naval combat will feature in Battlefield 4.
  • A full Battlefield 4 gameplay reveal is scheduled for March 27 following EA’s GDC presentation.

Electronic Arts and DICE have released a new teaser for Battlefield 4, offering the clearest hint yet that naval combat will play a role in the upcoming shooter.

Titled Prepare 4 Battle: Sea, the short clip shows a large ship propeller beginning to turn before directing viewers towards the full Battlefield 4 reveal on March 27. The video was published through the official Battlefield channel today.

The teaser follows growing signs that EA is preparing a major Battlefield 4 reveal around the Game Developers Conference. GLN previously reported that EA was sending invitations for a Battlefield 4 event at GDC, with the presentation expected to take place later this month.

Battlefield 4 itself is not a complete surprise. EA confirmed the game last year when it announced that players who pre-ordered the Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition would receive access to an exclusive Battlefield 4 beta planned for autumn 2013.

For now, EA and DICE are keeping the wider game under wraps, but the Sea teaser strongly suggests that Battlefield 4 will expand its combined-arms combat onto the water alongside the series’ established infantry and vehicle warfare.

The full reveal is expected on March 27, when EA is due to show Battlefield 4 gameplay for the first time.

The beta later received a confirmed October schedule, with GLN covering when the Battlefield 4 open beta would begin.
