Key Highlights:

  • Sony has released a PS4 teaser showing brief, blurred glimpses of the console’s physical design.
  • The PlayStation 4 hardware will be fully revealed during Sony’s E3 2013 press conference on 10 June.
  • Sony previously announced the PS4 in February but did not show the console itself.

Sony has released a new PlayStation 4 teaser offering the first fragmented glimpses of the console’s physical design ahead of its full E3 2013 reveal.

The short video rapidly cuts between blurred shots and close-ups of the hardware, revealing small details without showing the complete console. Sony announced the PlayStation 4 in February, but the company focused on the system architecture, DualShock 4 controller and upcoming games rather than revealing what the machine itself looked like.

Sony has now confirmed that the complete PS4 hardware will be shown during its E3 2013 press conference on 10 June at 6:00pm Pacific Time.

The teaser therefore answers one of the biggest remaining questions surrounding Sony’s next-generation console while deliberately holding back the full design for E3.

Later update: Sony revealed the finished PlayStation 4 design during its E3 conference as planned. The company also confirmed a launch price of $399 in the US, €399 in Europe and £349 in the UK, details covered in our PS4 price and E3 reveal report.
