Fans have eagerly awaited the release of Tears of the Kingdom since its announcement, and with just three weeks until its debut, Nintendo has been ramping up its marketing efforts. The final trailer, which dropped in early April, provides a comprehensive overview of the game’s features, including weapons, the expansive overworld, and the formidable antagonist, Ganondorf. With so much hype surrounding Tears of the Kingdom, fans can’t wait to get their hands on the game and start exploring its vast world.
Players can look forward to some exciting pre-order bonuses for physical copies of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as well as a Tears of the Kingdom-themed Splatfest in Splatoon 3. Nintendo’s marketing campaign for the game includes special advertisements that showcase various aspects of the game, such as new items and weapons. Some of these ads have already been released in Japan, featuring Zelda walking with the broken Master Sword and snippets of the official trailer. Additionally, a more general Nintendo Switch ad also provides a glimpse of the new items and weapons players can expect to find in Tears of the Kingdom.

The advertisement highlights several games on the Nintendo Switch that are appropriate for children, and incorporates Japanese onomatopoeia to correspond with in-game actions. Twitter user Genki_JPN edited the video to focus solely on the game, showcasing Link’s abilities such as using a club to fell a tree, or wielding various spears and lances to battle enemies. Interestingly, players can even create a spear with a mushroom as the head, adding a touch of humour to the title.
New items and weapons for Tears of the Kingdom were also showcased in the footage, such as Link’s standard sword, a fan that creates wind for his raft, and his iconic spin attack. A strange ancient hovercar was also featured, with Link soaring through the sky on it. Additionally, there’s a wand that can throw bombs further distances, and players can use Link’s bow and arrow to shoot various objects, including apples from tree branches. The spin attack can even be used with a lit torch to start a fire, and a heavy hammer-like weapon can crush blocks.
Tears of the Kingdom, the highly-anticipated game from The Legend of Zelda franchise, is set to release on May 12th, 2023, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch platform.
