The latest injection of content into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with the launch of Season 3 Reloaded has stirred up the game’s landscape. Dropped on May 10th, this update came packed with a plenitude of new offerings, including fresh weapons, operators, and a novel map dubbed Alboran Hatchery. Alongside this, it incorporated a range of balance adjustments aimed at shaking up the somewhat stagnant meta.

With the update now live, players have been fervently tackling the grind, eager to unlock the myriad of new content brought forth by this mid-season revamp. Among the most anticipated additions are the new weapons, expanding the arsenal available in Modern Warfare 2, a change warmly welcomed by players seeking a break from the current meta. In addition to this, a new six-on-six map and operator from the Modern Warfare days have been thrown into the mix. Alex is back, and players can unlock him by successfully navigating through Atomgrad’s Raid Episode 3.

Nerfs and Buffs: Impactful Weapon Adjustments in Season 3 Reloaded Update

Further detailing the changes, the official Call of Duty website released the Season 3 Reloaded’s update patch notes on the launch day. Notably, the ISO Hemlock, a recent assault rifle entrant in the game, has been subjected to a nerf in its damage capabilities. The new adjustments mean it will now inflict less harm at minimum, mid, and maximum ranges, with a particular drop in damage inflicted on lower torso and extremities. Post-update, assault rifles such as Modern Warfare 2’s M4 and the M13B may begin to appeal to players in search of higher firepower.

This alteration could significantly impact competitive players, many of whom had adopted the ISO Hemlock as their preferred weapon due to its manageable recoil, impressive damage output, and rapid rate of fire, making it a favourite for mid to long-range combat in larger game modes and even in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

However, there’s good news too. The Season 3 Reloaded update has bestowed buffs upon an underappreciated assault rifle, the Lachmann-556, shifting the game’s meta and offering players a fresh option for their loadouts. The Lachmann-556 now boasts an enhanced damage output across all ranges and a higher upper torso damage multiplier, rewarding those players who prioritise precision in their battles. Though not conventionally considered a competitive choice, the updated Lachmann-556 may find itself featuring more frequently in players’ gaming sessions post-update.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, complete with its Season 3 Reloaded update, is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
