Recent leaks suggest an intriguing turn of events for the Mortal Kombat franchise, with a twist in the name and potential guest appearances.

Mortal Kombat 12, announced a few months ago, is rumoured to be dubbed Mortal Kombat 1, a nod to an apparent reboot of the series. The anticipated inclusion of characters such as Homelander from The Boys and Peacemaker from DC Comics adds further intrigue.

In the first official teaser of Mortal Kombat 1, we glimpsed an exploding grain of sand, hinting at a continuation from the timeline disruption of Mortal Kombat 11. The second teaser was slightly more revealing, showing a clock ticking from 11 to 1, a possible hint at a franchise reboot.

These speculations have been fuelled by leaks from reliable sources suggesting that the reboot, potentially titled Mortal Kombat 1, is in the pipeline.

Leaked Details: Mortal Kombat 1 Editions, Release Window, and Character Speculations

Billbil-kun, a reputed leaker whose intel was corroborated by Windows Central, suggests that Mortal Kombat 1 will be fully unveiled in the next few weeks, with a targeted launch in September. According to the leak, upon release, the game will be available in three editions: the $69.99 Standard Edition, the $109.99 Premium Edition, and the $249.99 Kollector’s Edition. The Nintendo Switch version will reportedly be priced at $59.99. No mention of PS4 or Xbox One versions was made.

Despite the leaks providing scanty details about the Mortal Kombat 1 roster, fans can expect a mix of staple and novel characters. Leaks indicate a Character Pass for the new fighting game that will introduce new fighters as DLC.

Including Peacemaker and Homelander from The Boys mentioned as possible, albeit unconfirmed, additions. As always, it’s prudent for fans to approach these leaks with a healthy dose of scepticism until an official announcement is made.
