As the anticipated June 2023 release of AEW Fight Forever draws near, fans are catching a tantalising glimpse of the game in action. Thanks to All Elite Wrestling star Ricky Starks showcasing the game on his own Nintendo Switch, an anticipation-filled sneak peek has emerged. Indeed, the Nintendo Switch has become the platform of choice amongst wrestlers, championed by AEW’s Adam Page and WWE’s Xavier Woods. It’s an ideal gaming system for those who spend the majority of their time on the road, a scenario all too familiar to Ricky Starks, who’s been engrossed in the first-ever game from AEW.

Arcade Games Revived in AEW Fight Forever

AEW Fight Forever, a joint endeavour with THQ Nordic and seasoned wrestling game creator Yuke’s, marks the fledgling promotion’s maiden voyage into gaming. Whilst the WWE 2K series has built its reputation on an immersive simulation-style approach, Fight Forever is a loving homage to the high-octane arcade games of yesteryears, like WWF No Mercy and WCW/nWo Revenge. This much-anticipated game boasts a career mode, character creation suite, online store, and an array of signature AEW match types, including the dramatic Stadium Stampede and the thrilling exploding barbed-wire deathmatch.

Social Media Buzz: Wrestlers Share Their Fight Forever Experiences

A recent tweet by Ricky Starks, displaying Fight Forever’s main menu, has whet the appetite of gamers eagerly waiting for their own playthrough. The snapshot unveils an in-game locker room where Starks’ avatar stands poised for action, with main gameplay options at the ready. Each option seems to house sub-options, with a friendly pop-up notifying Starks of fellow wrestler Evil Uno’s online presence.

Starks’ tweet is part of a series of posts from AEW wrestlers who’ve been testing the waters of Fight Forever over the course of AEW Double or Nothing weekend. Wrestlers like Nyla Rose, Orange Cassidy, and Evil Uno have expressed their enthusiasm for the title, sharing positive experiences across social media. Moreover, visitors at the All Elite Wrestling Fan Fest had the privilege of playing the game firsthand, with many drawing parallels to the classic WWF No Mercy, albeit with a contemporary twist.

Impact of AEW Fight Forever on the Wrestling Promotion’s Future

The verdict on Fight Forever from a broader audience remains to be seen, but the stage is set for a potentially game-changing summer for the young wrestling promotion. With plans to launch a second two-hour primetime show on Saturdays, AEW Collision, on June 17th – rumoured to feature the return of CM Punk and their largest event ever, AEW All In London, England at the iconic Wembley Stadium. Not surprisingly there has already been a staggering 65,000+ tickets sold, the future looks bright.

AEW Fight Forever is set to be unleashed on June 29th, 2023, and will be available for Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
