The forthcoming Season 4 update for Call of Duty: Warzone 2, set to land on Wednesday, June 14th, will see the unveiling of a fresh map, Vondel, enlarging the gaming experience further. Since its inception last year, Activision has maintained a relentless pace of support for the Call of Duty: Warzone 2, the thrilling battle royale adventure.

Resurgence, DMZ, and Lockdown LTM Modes: New Adventures in Vondel

When Warzone 2 first arrived, Al Mazrah stood as its lone map, later supplemented by the more compact terrain of Ashika Island. Al Mazrah filled the role of a large-scale map, reminiscent of Verdansk from the original Warzone. Ashika Island, on the other hand, was the sequel’s answer to Rebirth Island. The forthcoming map, Vondel, strikes a balance between these scales, billed by Activision as a ‘medium-sized map’.

The anticipated Vondel map will debut alongside the Season 4 update on June 14th, enriching the game with the addition of Resurgence, DMZ, and Lockdown LTM modes. Fans can also look forward to classic battle royale modes coming to Vondel later in the season. The Resurgence mode will allow for an intense battle among 72 players. As players explore the new landscape, they will discover 15 distinct points of interest, such as a castle, a zoo, and a football stadium, amongst others. The full extent of Vondel’s offerings will be unravelled when it arrives next week.

A Wait for the Traditional: Battle Royale and Gulag Arrival Post-launch

Traditional battle royale won’t be part of the initial offering on the Vondel map, meaning it will debut without a dedicated gulag. However, a subterranean gulag, tucked away in the town’s more medieval quarters, will be part of the Season 4 Reloaded update. This update is also expected to bring traditional battle royale modes to the map.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has grappled with player retention compared to its predecessor, but a fresh landscape in the form of Vondel could potentially rekindle the interest of former players and attract new ones. The Season 4 update appears to be packed with enticing content for the Call of Duty franchise, though the community’s reception remains to be seen. With the next Call of Duty instalment set for 2023, it will be fascinating to observe its influence on Warzone 2 and the continued support for Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is presently available for PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
