The Chapter 11 encounter is a knife-only duel built around Resident Evil 4 Remake’s knife parry system. Pick up the Boot Knife near the starting position before engaging Krauser.
Wait for Krauser to attack and press the parry input when the knife prompt appears. A successful parry can stagger Krauser and trigger a melee prompt.
Use the melee attack immediately. Follow it with several knife slashes while Krauser is recovering.
Do not attack continuously when Krauser is ready to counter. His attacks can rapidly reduce knife durability and Leon’s health.
Repeat the following sequence:
- Wait for Krauser to attack.
- Parry the knife strike.
- Perform the prompted melee attack.
- Slash Krauser while he is staggered.
- Create distance before his next attack.
Professional difficulty requires more precise parry timing. Carrying the Boot Knife gives Leon a backup if the Combat Knife breaks during the duel.
How to Survive Krauser’s Ruins Ambush in Chapter 14
The Chapter 14 encounter begins before the final boss arena. Krauser attacks Leon throughout the Ruins while the route is obstructed by traps and automated weapons.
Use stone walls and other structures to break Krauser’s laser sight. Fire at Krauser when he exposes himself, but do not remain in the open after shooting.
Krauser switches to close-range attacks when Leon reaches certain sections. Parry his knife strikes and use the melee prompt to force him back.
The next route contains tripwires, mines and bear traps. Move slowly enough to identify each trap before advancing. Tripwire explosives can also damage Krauser if they detonate while he is nearby.
When Krauser fires from a distance, use the available cover rather than trying to trade shots. Continue through the Ruins until Leon reaches the final arena.
How to Beat Mutated Krauser in Chapter 14
Mutated Krauser uses his enlarged arm to attack, grab Leon and block incoming gunfire.
Parry his knife-based attacks and strike when the melee prompt appears. Krauser normally exposes his body after a successful counter or missed attack.
Do not fire repeatedly while Krauser holds his mutated arm in front of his body. The arm blocks frontal shots and wastes ammunition.
Krauser’s grab cannot be treated like a standard knife strike. Keep some distance and move away when he pulls the mutated arm backwards before lunging. Community testing also supports baiting his advancing attacks from outside close range rather than remaining directly in front of him.
If Krauser catches Leon, use the displayed escape input. Escaping with a knife consumes durability, which makes avoiding the grab preferable.
Krauser also performs a jumping slam from above. Move to the opposite side of the arena or use the raised platform to escape the impact area. Avoid standing near the edge because his attacks can knock Leon from the platform.
Attack Krauser after:

- a stagger caused by damage to his legs
Continue alternating between defence and short bursts of damage until Krauser is defeated.

What Is the Best Weapon Against Krauser?
A repaired knife is the most important weapon against Krauser because it allows Leon to parry, escape grabs and attack during close-range openings.
The Shotgun is the most practical firearm for the final battle. Its close-range damage works well after Krauser misses an attack or becomes staggered.
A Magnum provides greater burst damage but uses scarcer ammunition. Save Magnum rounds for clear openings rather than firing while Krauser blocks with his mutated arm.
