Activision has unveiled the first look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer mode ahead of the game’s November 10th release. Rather than an entirely new experience, MW3 multiplayer features returning classic maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 and carries over recent content from 2022’s version too. Check out the newly released multiplayer trailer below.
At launch, MW3 will include 16 remastered maps from the original MW2, including legendary fan favourites like Terminal, Favela, Estate, and Rust. The newly released trailer showcases operators, finishing moves, cosmetics, and more that players can expect.
But the biggest reveals are still to come at the Call of Duty Next event on October 5th at 6pm BST / 9am PT. Fans can tune in for extensive details on everything MW3 has in store for multiplayer. And PlayStation players will get hands-on access to multiplayer very soon after via an open beta.
Here is the schedule for the COD MW3 beta:
- Oct. 6-7: PlayStation pre-order early access
- Oct. 8-10: All PlayStation players
- Oct. 12-13: All PlayStation, PC and Xbox pre-orders
- Oct. 14-16: Open to all platforms
The beta kicks off this weekend for PlayStation pre-orders, before going fully open the following week. This will provide valuable testing and feedback well before launch.

With multiplayer now unveiled, the only remaining reveal is MW3’s rumoured open world Zombies mode. More concrete details should emerge in the coming weeks leading to release.
By combining nostalgic classic maps with new content, MW3 aims to blend the familiar and fresh for Call of Duty fans. The beta offers an early chance to experience multiplayer ahead of what is sure to be another massive Call of Duty launch this November.
This is huge news as there hasn’t been a trailer for the game since the gameplay footage release almost two months ago.
Though story details are still scarce, Activision clearly recognises the value in tapping into fan nostalgia alongside new ideas. MW3 has big shoes to fill, but early indications suggest it will balance payoff for longtime devotees with innovations to push the legendary franchise forward.
